Outpatient Clinical Services

Birmingham Group Health Services, Inc. provides outpatient clinical services via our state-licensed outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse facility, located at 435 East Main Street in Ansonia, CT.  BGHS employs an experienced team of psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, advanced practice registered nurses, certified alcohol and drug counselors, and other mental health professionals who provide a wide range of services, including:

  • Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Evaluations
  • Individual & Group Psychotherapy
  • Medication Management
  • Psychotherapy for Persons Infected/Affected with HIV/AIDS
  • OBRA Evaluations for Nursing Home Clients with Behavioral Illness
  • 24-Hour Mobile Crisis Services

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

In addition to the above services, BGHS also specializes in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (developed by Marsha Linehan) has proven successful particularly with chronically self-injurious and suicidal individuals, as well as those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.  Among the outcomes recognized via this specialized therapy are reductions in suicide and para-suicidal behaviors, anger, substance abuse, and hospitalization.  Dialectical Behavior Therapy also aids in the improvement of social functioning, teaches coping skills to tolerate emotional dysregulation, and improves participants' overall quality of life and emotional well-being.

For more information about BGHS' outpatient clinical services and/or Dialectical Behavior Therapy, call (203) 736-2601 and ask for "Heather."
