Due to
the seriousness and inherent complexities of domestic violence, many victims
who wish to escape their abusers are often forced to do so with little or no
resources, bringing with them their children, the "clothes on their backs,"
and little else. Because of this, Birmingham Group Health Services' The Umbrella is always in need of
donations of clothing (for both adults and children), household items and
linens (for our emergency shelter or to help relocate shelter residents to
new homes), foodstuffs, appliances, cell phones, and other items that can
assist us in helping victims of domestic violence and their children escape
their tormentors and rebuild their lives. The following is a list of
our most needed items:
-
Household
cleaning supplies - bleach, laundry detergent, dishwashing
detergent, spray cleaners, scrub sponges, liquid soaps (no bar soaps
please)
