The
Valley's Local Prevention Councils (known as LPC's) are a network of
grassroots committees that work to engage citizens in the Valley Substance
Abuse Action Council's prevention efforts at the local level.
The goals of the Local
Prevention Council are to increase public awareness, to disseminate
information, and to implement prevention activities focusing on youth.
The individuals who work with the LPC's are volunteers from every sector of
the community including parents, educators medical professionals, business
people, and concerned citizens. Each LPC runs on small grant funding
provided by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
