(Training for Intervention Procedures)

T.I.P.S is an alcohol intervention program that teaches liquor permittees and servers how to recognize signs of intoxication, prevent alcohol sales to minors, and intervene with patrons who are already intoxicated.  VSAAC's TIPS certified trainers work with local liquor permittees to ensure compliance with the law, encourage knowledge of the penalties and fines associated with underage drinking, and to train staff in ways to prevent disaster.  At the same time, VSAAC works with local law enforcement to help enforce regulations regarding underage sales, ensure that vendors are complying with the law, and much more.

Are your staff prepared to deal with these situations?

  • An intoxicated person is offending other patrons seated around him.

  • A patron leaves Happy Hour too drunk to drive, but refuses to take a cab.

  • A customer tries to buy alcohol with a fake ID.

  • A private party hostess tells your staff to serve everyone, whether underage or intoxicated.

Are you prepared to deal with the consequences if they aren't?

For every smart business decision you make this year, using TIPS may be the smartest one yet. TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) is an alcohol intervention program that builds on the skills and expertise of your servers.

Through our server session, with its lively interactive format, your staff will learn a practical, common sense approach to serving alcohol responsibly in any setting. This approach will:

  • Reduce your liquor liability

  • Improve your customer service

  • Enhance your business.

The Valley Substance Abuse Action Council has certified TIPS trainers on staff to serve the Valley region with free training for the first five employees attending from one establishment.

We don't waste your time with quick fixes or vague theories. TIPS addresses the situations you encounter every day, customized to Connecticut's requirements and targeted to your needs. Your business is too important to rely on anything but a top-quality program. TIPS is that program because:

  • In the last 18 years, no TIPS certified server has been successfully sued in a liquor liability lawsuit.

  • TIPS comprehensive database provides the most complete verification of training for establishments, courts, and insurance companies.

  • Independent university research has proven TIPS effective at preventing intoxication among customers.

  • It complies with requirements in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 22 foreign countries.

  • More than 550,000 people have chosen TIPS over the past 18 years

By combining our program with your expertise, you will be able to show your servers how to:

  • Recognize signs of intoxication

  • Prevent alcohol sales to minors

  • Intervene with patrons who are already intoxicated
