The Valley Substance Abuse Action Council (VSAAC) has gained national respect as a leader in community training programs for the prevention of underage drinking and as an authority on Ecstasy and other club drug information, prevention, and training/workshops.
VSAAC training
programs are offered to schools, businesses, medical professionals, civic
and other organizations, and any group interested in learning prevention,
education, and other strategies to combat substance abuse in our community.
Below are some of VSAAC's most popular training offerings:
Substances of Abuse:
This presentation is designed to
provide information about the most commonly abused legal and illicit
substances, including one of the most popular and inexpensive substances
abused by youth today - inhalants (which can include everyday school
supplies such as white-out, glue, and spray paint). This workshop
gives participants a basic understanding of inhalants and their
dangers/effects, as well as those of alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs,
and "club" drugs such as ecstasy, special K, etc. Participants also
review the history of certain drugs, their pharmacology, drug paraphernalia,
and indicators of substance use. Slang terms and websites of interest are
also covered, as are common misconceptions regarding drugs and their use.
